The dream of student managers everywhere is about to come true as Illinois senior Ryan Schmidt is going from manager to player for the Illini on Saturday because the squad is so ravaged by injuries.
With Tracy Abrams, Rayvonte Rice and Aaron Cosby all injured, Schmidt – who did play in high school for Bloomington Central Catholic in Illinois – will be in uniform for the Illini at Minnesota.
Our advice to Schmidt: If you somehow touch the ball on Saturday, shoot it. Immediately.
Congrats to manager-turned-player Ryan Schmidt, the newest #Illini. Ryan will dress for Saturday’s game at Minnesota. pic.twitter.com/a2oXPmVVfC
