Illinois AD Mike Thomas was fired on Monday after an investigation into mistreatment of football and women’s basketball players revealed that a leadership change was needed.
According to NBC Chicago, “the report found no wrongdoing by Thomas, according to interim Chancellor Barbara Wilson … But she said a change was needed.” The report also abdicates interim head coach Bill Cubit of any malfeasance. It did, however, reveal some harrowing details about former coach Tim Beckman’s treatment of players:

Beckman was fired in late August due to allegations that he forced players to play through injury and warped medical decisions.
